Fasting 101: How and Why

This class will help you understand why we fast and also receive practical support, as it coincides with the exact days that we will be fasting together as a church.  We will talk about the different ways to fast (from beginner to experienced), the benefits of fasting, and will share our stories and experiences as we’re going through it together. Come to any or all of the three weeks. Think of it as a support group for fasters!

Fasting seems almost impossible in our 'count your calorie, think about what you eat' culture. I heard monks were good at it but I know I'm not. What's the point of skipping meals or denying yourself something in life? Is there any benefit to it? Is there anything God really wants to do through this spiritual practice of fasting? Come learn how God works powerfully through this underused practice.

Bobbi is on staff at Northwoods as the Equip Associate. She thought her love affair with chocolate meant that she could never be a 'faster,' but has been surprised to know how her hunger for God now occassionally beats out the M and Ms! She is married to Dave and together they have raised 3 daughters.
